Here is a project that I completed with some colleagues of mine in early 2017. We were tasked with augmenting an existing ice tracking tool by WIRL (Water and Ice Research Laboratory), themselves working with CIS (Canadian Ice Service). The tool is used by CIS to track large ice flows in the Davis Straits near Baffin Island. The tool is helping the service track what they call 'Ice Lineages' which are the generations of ice that break off from larger flows. With the help of the tool, they will be able to better understand the decay and movement of Arctic Ice. Our team was tasked with augmenting the existing tool to allow for automated re-assignment of ice flow ID numbers, and the ability to retroactively edit the already-known flow when new imagery and information is available.
