2020 -
In the beginning of 2020, I founded a startup remote sensing firm focused on insurance applications of earth observation data and analysis. The project was helped tremendously by the Innovation Hub of the University of Copenhagen, which is a program for science students interested in applying their specialities to entrepreneurial pursuits.
In the summer of 2020, the startup was accepted for the European Space Agency Launchpad event, where the team grew to four members. We continued to develop the project while working on our various other pursuits, and are currently coordinating remotely.
Between October 2018 and July 2019, I joined the Arctic division of the Geological Survey of Canada as a satellite mapping analyst. Our section was focused on a multi-year geohazard mapping project along the new Tuktoyaktuk Highway in the Yukon and Northwest Territories of Canada. Using high resolution optical satellite imagery, my tasks included imagery analysis, database management, technical writing and editing of government documents, along with research and experimenting with new mapping techniques. I was also involved in the early stages of the Contwoyto mining project in the Territory of Nunavut.
Our offices were bilingual environments, necessitating communication in both English and French.

Research Science Practicum
2018
In 2018, I completed a Geomatics Research Science Practicum with the Geological Survey of Canada as a GIS analyst in the Permafrost section, under the wing of permafrost researcher Dr. Stephen Wolfe. Our project aimed to estimate carbon and water volumes in Arctic permafrost landforms using mathematical, remote sensing, and vector based approaches to permafrost modelling. These approaches are being developed for future government publications in the GSC by Dr. Wolfe and the team.
The two preliminary reports can be viewed below:
The Practicum resulted in a full-time position at the department in late 2018.
In 2017 during my bachelors studies, I worked for John Lindsay HF, in Reykjavik Iceland, a national import company. My tasks were managing orders, fulfilling sales, and working with clients in situ across the metro area, as well as the further countryside. My contract began in May and ended in late August, allowing me to return to Canada for school.

2014 - 2015
Between switching courses of study, I filled a position at the Entwistle Company, a major U.S. Navy contractor. This position involved overseeing inventory, preparing sub-assemblies to streamline operations, managing the parts database, completing finished assemblies for delivery to military destinations, as well as travel to external sites for procurement and operations.

M.Sc. Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing
2019 - Present
I am currently writing my 60ects thesis, which is focused on adapting a medical image-recognition algorithm for satellite image analysis. The algorithm will be applied to conflict monitoring and post conflict land rehabilitation.
The coursework of the geoinformatics program has included UAV data collection and analysis, LULC, statistics, programming, automation, and advanced classifications.
Completed projects include an entirely MODIS based forest-fire prediction algorithm (seen here), a project which investigated the correlation between poppy cultivation and terrorist activity in Afghanistan; among others.
In 2015 I transferred to Carleton University’s B.Sc. Geomatics program in Ottawa, Ontario. The program was a rigorous combination of traditional science, GIS, remote sensing, statistics, and computer programming courses. The program taught skills in most major GIS platforms, and programming for mapping using python, R, SQL.
My bachelors finished with a practicum at the Canadian Government (see above), as well as long-term projects: a GIS analysis of road design in Ottawa (see here), a programming solution for the Canadian ice service (see here), and the creation of a curriculum on environmental mapping for a new interdisciplinary course.

2012 - 2014
from 2012 to 2014 I attended the University of Denver, on a track of business information and analytics. An elective GIS course in my second year inspired me to transfer universities and programs to pursue the field of GIS and remote sensing.
